Abstract

The article contains an analysis of mutual relations between the literary genre and the texts creating a how-to cookery discourse, and an attempt at their cultural interpretation. Cookery books, understood as the realizations of the genre model, every time are perceived as successive links of the evolution chain of culinary thought both in the universal and particular perspective, determined by ethnic-cultural factors of a given community. The aim of the conducted analyses is to describe determinants of the genre model of cookery books, with regard to the structural, pragmatic, stylistic and cultural aspect.
