Abstrakt: The paper is focused on linguistic analysis of the 17th century Vasiliy Fiodorovich Burcov’s “Bukvar”. It was the first printed grammar handbook issued in Moscow. The research which was directed towards selected phonetics and morphological features shows that the analyzed text is differentiated in respect of its language. On the one hand it is strongly settled in Cyrilo-Methodian writing tradition due to presence of typical Old Church Slavonic (abr. OCS) elements such as: metathe- sis TraT, TlaT, TreT, TleT vs. East-Slavonic pleophony, consonant seąuence śt’ vs. East-Slavonic ć’ or adjective ending -ago vs. East-Slavonic -ogo. On the other hand it bears the seal of the local language, it means 17th century Moscovian dialect, which could be found in the following linguistic elements: native or, er, ol instead of OCS sonorants r, l, denasalized volwels ’a, u vs. OCS nasals ę, q (in- consistend using of yus’ letters), category of animacy, ending tb in 3rd sing. and pl. in present conjugation vs. OCS ending ti>.Finally, unsettled orthography is typical for “Bukvar” that uses, firstly, the OSL classical model, secondly, the native East-Slavonic language model, or, thirdly, both of them. Additionally, there were detected meaningful variations at the flectional forms in the “Bukvar” which were particularly noticed in nouns and adjectives paradigm.
