Postmodernistów rosyjskich gry z historią

Abstract

The paper presents the most interesting examples of travesty of history in post-modern Russian prose, the meehanisms and functions of “supposing”. The following novels are analyzed here: The Island of Crimea by V. Aksyonov, where alternative to the Soviet system Russia is shown, Palisandria by S. Sokolov, where the presented world is based on the concept of everlasting time, which questions the teleology of history itself, Buddha’s Little Finger by V. Pelevin with alternative biographies and personalities of some historical figures, and Blue Fat by V. Sorokin, where the aut hor lengthened the biographies of Stalin and Hitler, made a parody of official and unofficial Russian literature and created grotesque pictures of its originators. History is a convenient tool for post-modern play aiming at destroying prevalent myths and stereotypes.
