Abstract

The main purpose of this paper was to present the assumptions and methods of research on the sense ar citizens' security and threats carried out by employees of the Department of Criminal law and Criminology at the Faculty of Law, University of Bialystok. An integral part of these studies is an attempt to diagnose a sense of security and threats of older people in our country. The author has attempted to define the concept of an older person, basing that definition on the achievements earned by the different sciences. There is no doubt that the person making up the population of elderly people suffer in varying degrees with the problems specific to aging, which increase the degree of dependency care unit from the rest of society. An important factor in determining the level of autonomy of its units is a sense of security.
