Słownictwo emocjonalne w tekstach z przełomu XIX i XX wieku traktujących o poprawności językowej

Abstract

The article is an attempt at ordering emotionally marked native lexis included in two general scientific papers from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, i.e. “how-to books” by Alexander Walicki and Alexander Łętowski. I have distinguished three macro-types within the emotionally marked lexis: 1. pejorative vocabulary, 2. disparaging vocabulary, 3. humorous vocabulary. In reference to the above groups, I have used additional distinction – a grammatical criterion which allowed me to segregate the material according to particular parts of speech. The allocation of a lexem to a particular macro-type is marked by dictionary labels, or the author’s comments in the commentaries on particular entries. Among the emotionally marked words, registered in the discussed papers, there is a predominance of disparaging lexis over pejorative and humorous lexis. Nouns constitute the most abundant group whereas verbs and adjectives are represented less numerously.
