Stylistyczne wykładniki obiektywizmu i przejawy subiektywizmu w pracy Roślin potrzebnych Krzysztofa Kluka

Abstract

With his works on botany and zoology, Krzysztof Kluk, the 18th century naturalist, and a collaborator of the National Education Commission, laid foundations for the development of a scientific style in biological sciences. The present paper discusses stylistic exponents of objectivism and all manifestations of subjectivism in Kluk's first scientific work: Rośliny potrzebne (1777-1779). Among other things, the article analyses the percentage appearance of personal and impersonal forms of verbs in the text, and their influence on the category of objectivism, constructions with the exponents of indeterminacy, constructions expressing certainty or uncertainty of presented hypotheses, figurativeness of the text, comparative expressions, exponents of the researcher's emotional attitude, manifestations of his religious views and humour. In conclusion, one can notice that Kluk achieves objectivism mainly on the formal-linguistic plane whereas the manifestations of subjectivism can be noticed on the content plane, which, however, does not breach the convention of a scientific style.
