Epinicjum albo Pieśń tryumfalna o tejże przesławnej wiktoryji Teofana Prokopowicza. Kilka uwag o poetyce

Abstract

The article concentrates on the Polish version of a well-known panegyric by Feofan Prokopovich. The main attention is paid to the issue of genre, composition of the poem and its poetics. The author considers the influences of the ancient and Renaissance tradition on the poetics of the panegyric and emphasizes the significance of the classical imitatio method in the creation process. Ways of appliance of the method by Prokopowicz are illustrated by the comparison of his panegyric with Torquato Tasso’s famous work in Polish translation by Piotr Kochanowski “Gofred albo Jeruzalem wyzwolona”.
