Sposoby nominacji kobiet w zapisach ksiąg sądowych z terenu starostwa hrubieszowskiego w XVII i XVIII wieku

Abstract

The article presents an analysis of strategies adopted for naming women in court registers of Starostwo Hrubieszowskie (Hrubieszów District) in the XVII and XVIII centuries. It has been established that female antroponyms were mainly derived from małe names by means of adding grammatically female suffixes to the names of fathers or husbands. Appelative expressions and proper names were also used. In the XVII and XVIII centuries the majority of female names in Hrubieszów District consisted of two elements, nevertheless, a smali number of single-element names were noted in the XVII century. Moreover, some examples of more соmlpex names consisting of three or four elements were also found.
