Abstrakt:	The art of translation is not only the art of words but also the art of transforming one cultural codę into the other. This seemingly simple task of translation proves to be complicated when texts connected with introducing Christianity to Russia are taken into consideration. Stylistic analysis of the translated texts presented in the article has shown the way a translator overcame time distance between the original text and its translation by using linguistic-stylistic archaisms (phonetic, grammatical, Іехісаі, phraseological).
