In this text, ADHD is presented as a deficit of executive functions because it is these functions that are believed to have the most devastating impact on the functioning of people with this disorder. The issue of executive functions is presented next, and then attention is directed to one of the most important executive functions, namely the working memory in the approach of Baddeley and Hitch (1974). Empirical evidence is cited that working memory may have a mediating effect on the symptoms of ADHD: inattention and impulsivity, as well as on learning, on the emotional and social functioning of children, of adolescents and of adults with ADHD.pl
