Udręki dorastania w prozie Anny Cieplak

Abstract

Anna Cieplak’s prose focuses on the problems of adolescents for whom the virtual world is more important than the real one. The author describes the emotions accompanying adolescent heroes who struggle with fears and obsessions related to, for example, an ideal appearance. Cieplak is interested in social inequalities, which are based on the material status of the family. Cieplak’s prose also includes the generation of contemporary 30‑year-olds born after the political transformation. Although they grew up faster than the older generation, their physical maturity does not match their emotional maturity. Cieplak also perpetuates the changing image of the Polish family, which is becoming more and more patchwork. Not only parents fail in their novels, but also social institutions, as their task should be to help those in need.
