Abstrakt: | Buen vivir (good life) appeared in the preamble of a country’s most important legislation – its Constitution: “We are a sovereign nation of Ecuador (...) decide to create (...) a new form of civil coexistence in diversity and harmony with nature, in order to achieve the good life, Sumac kawsay (...)”. This concept is derived from the translation of the language and traditions of the Quechua, meaning a life full of sweetness and harmony. According to Luis Meacasa President of CONAIE, Buen vivir is a space where there is reciprocity, co-extistence with nature, social responsibility, and consent. Buen vivir is defined as a new way of life, which can be viewed as an alternative to the Western model of sustainable development. |
