Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the novel from the perspective of the anxiety and loneliness experienced by the characters, taking into account the specificity of the composition of the work. Particular attention is paid to the phenomena of the inherited trauma and the pressure of success as significant factors that cause anxiety among millennials and generation Z. The author concludes that the possibility of catharsis is hinted at in the final part of the work, referred to as the kommos, in which the previous catalogue of the first-person stories gives way to an auctorial report of the characters’ conversations, offering the hope of taming anxiety by opening up to the other.
