Abstract

This article concerns the image of the Nenets in Magdalena Skopek’s book Dobra krew [Good blood]. The article analyses the language style of the book in comparison to the writing of Mariusz Wilk, a famous Polish author writing about Russia. A common aspect of Skopek’s and Wilk’s texts is the saturation of the Polish text with Russian words. The author of the article examines whether the use of Russianisms in the text devoted to the Nenets is justified. The way of using Nenets words in Skopek’s book is also analysed. In addition, the subject of the research is the way of talking about the Nenets culture: is it a Russian‑centric or postcolonial discourse.
