Abstract

The subject of this analysis is the legal aspect of the sustainable development principle and special consideration has been given to selected issues on waste management. It is hard to ignore the implementation aspect of sustainable development by public administration bodies which decide in compliance with laws governing the area of waste management. Therefore, the analysis covers this problem taking into account the Rio+20 Declaration. It has been emphasised that the systemic introduction of not only technological solutions but primarily legal ones, as these strategically ensure environmental protection, should take place in compliance with the sustainable development principle. The drafters of such legal solutions should strive to enact unambiguous laws which would guarantee their predictable application by public administration bodies.
