Sakralizacja Białorusi na kartach poezji Ryhora Baradulina

Abstract

The cultural and political thaw in Belarus at the beginning of the 1990s unleashed a wave of artistic freedom, which contributed to many Belarusian writers turning towards religious themes. Among these writers was also the National Poet of Belarus, Ryhor Baradulin. The article provides a closer look at the sacralization of Belarus in Baradulin’s works. The author uses the ergocentric and hermeneutic approaches in this article and he understands the sacred according to Zofia Zarębianka as a set of qualities related to the religious, theological and spiritual meanings contained in the text which can be detected at various levels of writing. As a result of the analysis, it was stated that the poetic image of Belarus was enriched and refreshed significantly by using sacred motifs. Baradulin sacralizes different aspects of Belarusianess such as Belarusian language and the former national symbols of Belarus: Pahonia and white -red-white flag. It was also noticed frequent usage of the category of eternity in poet’s sacralization of the homeland. There are no traces of messianism in his vision of sacred Belarus. The sanctification of the native land in the works of Baradulin does not play the role of mere decoration, but appears as an extremely important element of the world -sense, an expression and consequence of a specific philosophy of thinking about the homeland. There is no doubt that the lyrical subject in many cases mirrors the Baradulin’s worldview.
