L’histoire trouve-t-elle sa place l’enseignement des langues? Quelques remarques fondées sur l’analyse des méthodes de FLE

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to discuss the arguments in favour and the possible ways of incorporating the elements of history and culture of a given country into the process of a foreign language teaching. In the first part, the author will focus on the role and place of history in people's awareness. Then, the author will analyze selected problems and beliefs of French methodology and will comment on the nature of changes that have taken place in the ways of introducing cultural component in foreign language teaching. Finally, two methods of teaching French (panorama and Nouveau Sans Frontières) and a list of French history based exercises included in various course books will be presented.
