| dc.description.abstract | The paper discusses lexical lacuanae, i.e. gaps, of referential character in a crosslinguistic and cross-cultural perspective. The brief presentation of the phenomenon of lacunarity is followed by the description of equivalence and its kinds, i.e. systematic and translational. Then the typology of systematic equivalents is characterised and the notion of translational equivalent is explained. The core part of the paper is composed of case studies, in which three Polish lexical units of lacunary character are analyzed (moher, słoik, Warszawka/warszawka) with a view of determining their systematic and translational equivalents. | pl |
