Abstract

Inventories are important documents for researchers of many disciplines. For philologists, the advantage of this type of source is the diversity and abundance of linguistic material, which provides a reliable basis for the quantitative and qualitative assessment of the historical lexical Polish language, occurring in the broader usual context. The analyzed documents from the 1st half of the 19th century and the territory limited to the borderline areas of Podlasie allow for recalling with high precision the image of contemporary earthly possessions with their specific buildings, their spatial structure, a variety of movable and immovable property, their parts and details, household and farm, some technical solutions no longer practiced nowadays. Then there are the names of the duties on the manor, the names of weights and measures, professions, especially crafts and dignity of the city and the countryside. From the lists, one can also learn about the types of crops, number and type of belongings, furniture, home accessories, decorative items (coats of arms, portraits, paintings, books), dishes and other everyday objects.
