Stupa, czorten, pagoda – obiekty sakralne we wschodnich religiach według leksykografów

Abstract

The article discusses the question of the occurrence of the names of sacral structures characteristic of the area of Asia in Polish dictionaries. The history of the lexeme stupa and its correspondents (e.g., pagoda, dagoba, czorten) has been examined in lexicography. Polish lexicography devotes little space to such names. The sacral structures named by these lexemes definitely belong to other cultures and other religions but it should be remembered that they are great world religions and stupy are not only characteristic structures in the Asian landscape but also highly important for the local history, culture and tradition.
