Rozwój recenzji językoznawczej na przełomie XIX i XX wieku (na przykładzie „Prac Filologicznych” i „Rocznika Slawistycznego”)

Abstract

This paper discusses the importance of review articles in the development of Polish linguistics at the turn of the 19th and the 20th centuries. It presents an overview of opinions expressed by linguists on the role and function of this form of expression in the development of linguistics as a distinct scholarly discipline, and analyzes review articles published in two journals, “Prace Filologiczne” and “Rocznik Slawistyczny”, in the years 1885-1915. It attempts to identify the differences between the review articles published in the two journals. This article is intended as a starting point for further research on the linguistic review article as a scholarly genre.
