Abstract

The article is an attempt to establish the textual status of language advice in linguistics and to describe it in terms of the secondary (complex) genre of speech. Moreover, considerations concentrate on the changes in genre determinants of language advice which is described in the context of the lingual guidebooks and the websites offering linguistic help via the Internet. The observations resulted in the conclusion that language advice is mainly defined by the pragmatic background because the aim of the analyzed texts is more important than the other genre’s determinants. It means that the textual actualizations of the studied genre are strongly described by the impressive function. Conclusions deriving from the studies conducted allow for the statement that both the blurriness of the genre’s model and absorbing the media’s factors are the characteristic features of the language advice genre.
