Abstract

The subject of the article deals with the analysis of the urban registers of Poznań of the mid-Polish period (dated from the beginning of the 16th century to the 80s of the 18th century). Contrasted with each other, there are two types of the great-Poland’s source documents (the urban law registers and the alderman’s records) which are taken as a point of departure for the discussion on the official – formal style. It is characterized by the inequality of a contact between the writer and the reader, as well as by the construction of a reality in which a message is sent not between two autonomous subjects, but between the elements of a legally constituted community. Therefore, these texts are strongly petrified and conventional, parallelly built ( repetitions of identical structures), or, both in the plan of a content and in the plan of the expression, produced in analytical constructions and with the multitude of expressive and emotional phrases.
