Uwagi o słownictwie meteorologicznym w Balladach i romansach oraz Sonetach krymskich Adama Mickiewicza

Abstract

The present paper is an attempt to show the diversity and abundance of meteorological lexemes in the two works by Adam Mickiewicz: Ballady i romanse and Sonety krymskie. The collected vocabulary dealing with weather was semantically ordered and divided into particular meaningful ranges, with respect to definite features and properties of the analyzed phenomena. Meteorological data were discussed within the framework of five thematic sections including vocabulary in reference to: kinds of wind, clouds, rain, words connected with a thunderstorm and winter. The presentation of different forms of meteorological lexemes helped to show the function in which the poet used the vocabulary field in order to build the atmosphere, expressive emotional climate, accurately described colours and landscape character of separate works.
