„A jak ja byłam młodą panieneczką...”, czyli o konceptualizacji małżeństwa w pieśniach ludowych Ziemi Sokólskiej

Abstract

The article is aimed at the reconstruction of the linguistic image of marriage in folk songs of the Sokółka district, as well as the discovery of mechanisms determining its conceptualization. The collected material expresses women’s stereotypical views on the essence of the marital union, which determines the way of its presentation. The analysis of the material pointed out the existence of two main profiles of the notion – the wishful one, typical of the period of maidenhood, and the naturalistic one, expressed from the point of view of a married woman. This division shows a dichotomous way of evaluation of what is good or bad, which is typical of the traditional culture.
