Abstract

The paper concerns the relations between proper names, genre and idiolect. The research material is a corpus of chosen texts by Jan Parandowski, representing different genres: short novel, novel, reportage and essay. Analysis focus on proper names functions in process of creating the idiolect of the writer. The observation covers topos proper names, that is generally speaking the names originating form Ancient cultures. Their attendance and share in texts are significant, what allows to treat them as the idiolect proper names. Executed research proved that proper names confirm the subject characterization of the text and thus the idiolect. They also enable to think to some degree of proper names variety depending on the genre. Among the proper names functions one can distinguish: strengthening and emphasizing of the text topic, constructing of the text axiology level, expressing the nostalgic attitude of the author in relation to particular aspects of the reality.
