Abstrakt:	This article shows the role that St. Francis of Assisi played in the life and writings of Józef Wittlin whose works complement each other and constitute a coherent and consistent body of thought that clearly presents the Franciscan concepts of fraternitas and minoritas.

Nota biograficzna:	BARBARA OLECH is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Cultural Studies at the University of Bialystok. She specializes in 20th and 21st century literature and culture. Her book publications include a critical edition of Maria Grossek-Korycka’s Utwory wybrane (Selected Works) (2005), Harmonia. liryzm, trwoga. Studia o twórczości Bronisławy Ostrowskiej (Harmony, Lyricism, and Fear: Studies on the Works of Bronisława Ostrowska) (2012), Zachor. Żydowskie losy odzyskane w słowie (Zachor: The Jewish Fate Recaptured in a Word) (2017) and her articles can be found in book collections in Poland and abroad (Belarus, Ukraine, Israel).
