Abstract

The article attempts to characterize the specific literary form of an extended interview. Relying on the research after 1945, the author evaluates various classification proposals and points to its crossgeneric features of non-fiction. He concentrates on the interviewee oriented character of the form and sees its potential in the broad thematic scope and the possibility to present or confront worldviews. Given the fact that the extended interview in Poland flourished in the 1990s, its heyday coincided with socio-political transformations. This success was due to the lifting of censorship and the emergence of publishing houses in the private sector.
