Abstrakt: This article attempts to look at the work of Zygmunt Gloger from the perspective of the category of the literary image. For this purpose, the author uses the term „ethnographic imagination,” coined by a British ethnographer and anthropologist Paul Willis and „aesthetics” as used by Alexander Gottlieb Baumgarten. This interpretative framework is used for capturing the character of Gloger’s literary imagination, which also serves to present him not so much as an ethnographer, local historian and cultural historian, but first and foremost as a writer.
