Abstract

The main idea of the article is deliberation on tradition of a region. The example is Podlachia. In a theoretical part of the text, the author tries to compare terms of multiculturality and transculturality as terms describing the social sphere of living for individuals in the context of historically cultural diversity. One can find the comparison of various social processes from the perspective of local’s culture interpretation as a peripheral one, or from the perspective of the borderland, where local culture is the center for cultural artifacts’ interpretation and the background for organizing social life of people of the region. Then the author concentrates on the processes of revitalization of traditional culture of the region through examples, social initiatives as well as discovering wooden architecture, which is original for the region.
