    dc.description.abstractIntellectual work of Zamenhof is a reflection on multiculturalism. After the Holocaust Folkism and the Haskalah movements fade away and Zionism triumphs. In 1948 the State of Israel was proclaimed with Zionism as its main doctrine and New Hebrew as not only an official and national language but also a link language, probably even more symbolic than Judaism. Esperanto, which is Zamenhof ’s most recognized achievement, still exists in spite of linguistic and social theories that predict the decline of a language not protected by the state. It is not likely that Esperanto would become more popular, nevertheless there are no indications that it would die out in the foreseeable future.pl
