Dwóch (mimowolnych) uczestników zdarzeń i ich „reportażowe” świadectwa o Czeczenii: Arkadij Babczenko i Nikołaj Mamulaszwili

Abstract

This article deals with the works of two Russian writers – Arkadyi Babchenko and Nikolai Mamulashvili. The article analyzes non-fiction works devoted to the war in Chechnya. Babchenko is the author of a collection of short stories about his own participation in the war as a soldier of primary service (in Russia military service is compulsory for all men). Mamulashvili, a professional journalist, is the author of a memoir dedicated to 94 days spent as a prisoner of Chechen. This article discusses the issue of the genre created by Babczenko and Mamulashvili. One can also find the analysis of the narrative strategies applied by the writers, which is a result of the “forced testimony” of the Chechen war.
