Fantastyczne iluzje i deziluzje w teatrze romantycznym

Abstract

Among the theatrical means of creation of the fantastic world of the Romantic magic drama (i.e. the signs of the code of which the dramatic text is made), one can find both some devices used to create a perfect illusion and some moments in which this illusion is destroyed by reminding the audience of the “theatricality” of the presented world (such combination was considered to be innovative in the 20th century science comedy!). The interpretation of the signs – in the area spreading between the staging concept embedded in the text of the drama, the theatrical performance and the critical reception – leads to the question concerning the strangeness or homeliness (artificiality or naturalness) of supernatural phenomena (both characters and events).
