Gniazdo światów Marka S. Huberatha w świetle teorii recepcji czytelniczej Wolfganga Isera

Abstract

In the article, I attempt to prove that the novel Nest of Worlds by Marek S. Huberath, through its use of self-referential devices, becomes a comment on literature which bears a strong resemblance to Wolfgang Iser’s reader-response theory. The article begins with a presentation of Iser’s theory as it is outlined in his book The Act of Reading: A Theory of Aesthetic Response. This is followed by a summary of the plot of Nest of Worlds. Then, drawing on Linda Hutcheon’s classification of metafictional devices, the article highlights the self-reflective strategies applied in Huberath’s novel. Finally, I analyse how Nest of Worlds uses these strategies to convey comments about literature and how these comments coincide with Wolfgang Iser’s ideas.
