Ks. dr Witold Kuźmicki - proboszcz i dziekan dąbrowski (w latach 1936-1943)

Abstract

Father Witold Kuźmicki was born on May 11, 1885 in the village of Orliszki located in the parish of Sużany. He attended grammar school and junior high school in Suwałki, and graduated from the seminary in Sejny. After graduation he continued his studies in Rome. He was ordained on June 28, 1908 in Warsaw. He worked as a priest in Łomża, Wysokie Mazowieckie, and Brześć. Then he once again left for Rome in order to study can on law there. Upon his return he was assigned to the parish in Vilnius, and later on to another parish in the town of Lida. During World War I he was in charge of the parishes in Dziembrów and Kamionka. In 1918 he became the rector of the parish in Kamieniec Litewski, and in 1920 the rector of the parish in Dojlidy. He was also the rector of the parish in Zabłudów from 1927 till 1936. At all the parishes he worked for he was known for his responsible attitude to pastoral duties and his involvement in social and national projects. In 1936 he became the rector and dean in Dąbrowa Białostocka, and in 1937 he was appointed the supervisor of grammar schools in the deanery. He fulfilled his duties by visiting the schools in the assigned area, exhibiting particular zeal in aiding the development of Catholic organizations. In 1937 father Kuźmicki became the Church assistant to the movement called the Catholic Action in the deanery of Dąbrowa Białostocka. He helped boost the religious life of the faithful by taking an active part in starting parish libraries. In 1937 he convened The Congress of the Third Order of St. Francis for his deanery, and next year the following were convened: The Congress of the Eucharistic Crusade of Children, a meeting of the catholic youth, and The Congress of the Members of Living Rosary Circles. During World War II father Kuźmicki was granted the rights of vicar general for the parishes of the Dąbrowa Białostocka deanery. In July 1943 he was arrested by the Germans and executed most probably on July 13, 1943 near the village of Naumowicze in the Grodno area.
