Abstract

The Eucharist as a New Testament reality just like any other being has its first principle, which is something primary and necessary in it, which co-creates its being. This first principle brings together all the Eucharistic truths, but at the same time it is their stem and root. Those truths stem from it and are grounded in it. The "primum principium" of the Eucharist is sacrifice. This truth has not always been self-evident to Christians, and even today it is not embraced by the protestants: that state, however, is not due to a lack of arguments, but to subjective reasons of those who have rejected or marginalized it. This article discusses the Eucharist as sacrifice.
