Abstract

In this article the author examines establishment and development of Belarusian‑Polish cooperation in the economic sphere in the first post‑socialist years. The author determines the main forms of economic cooperation; she characterizes social‑economic conditions of development of border regions. The researcher emphasizes different economic potential of Belarusian and Polish border areas. It was a reason for the activization of border cooperation. One of the most successful forms of this cooperation became Euroregions. The author underlines that a significant role in increasing trade contacts played such economic institutes as joint trading houses and the Chamber of Commerce. The researcher analyses problems and deterrents of economic partnership, she shows that strict customs and border control became the main barrier to the development of this cooperation.
