Abstract

The category of queer has increasingly been applied to refer to the Polish movement of LGBT. It is also becoming an entirely new concept relating to the shape of the social movement whose underlying purpose is a gradual integration of homosexual, bisexual, transgender as well as transsexual communities in Poland. The label queer is, therefore, applied not only in the private area – referring to certain attributes of individuals, but it is also present in the public sphere, thus adding a political dimension to the term. The author asks questions about the very beginning of the process of integration of LGBT community in Bialystok. She also analyses social activities and educational events. Referring to the concept of new multiculturalism, borderland and the category of queer, three educational projects are examined. Keywords:
