Abstract

One of the most current problems in linguistics nowadays is the translation of terminology used in official, industrial and judicial European circles. In is the core of special vocabulary and expressions regulary used in the EU countries. Therefore one of the most vital targets facing Russian abd Polish linguists in creation of stable system of terminology. The basic task facing a translator is to find out whether the concept described as the European Union has is equivalents in Russian and Polish reality. However, there is not always a straightforward answer to such a question, especially in context of specialized knowledge, such as economy, law, political and social sciences. Very often a translator manages to find a Russian/Polish equivalent whose meaning is quite close to the original term in a foreign language, though this closeness is not always complete.
