Abstract

Pyotr Vyazemsky, a distinguished Russian poet and political activist, witnessed and participated in many, not only literary but also political, events of his own time. This article discusses some parts of the biography of Prince Vyazemsky, a Russian “Voltairian”, when he was in the circle of “Polish affairs”. Personal life, poems and letters of this well-known representative of the past ruling class reflected his complex attitude to Poland. Vyazemsky was one of those Russians who were not categorically rejected as enemies in Poland. The presented theme is based on Polish sources.
