Stereotyp Żyda utrwalony w polskiej i rosyjskiej frazeologii

Abstract

The aim of the paper is to discuss the stereotype of a Jew conveyed by Polish and Russian proverbs and idioms. The units motivated by the stereotypes of a Jew developed in both cultures, excerpted from lexicographic, phraseographic and paremiographic works, are analyzed with a view to determining similarities and differences between the picture of a Jew in the two languages. The cultural background, in which the units came into existence, is discussed with a special focus on differences in the perception of Jews in Poland and Russia.
