Literatura rosyjska wobec problemów ekologii. Rekonesans

Abstract

The article investigates Russian literature’s approach to the issues of ecology. The interest in this subject can be noted as early as in the nineteenth century, in the works of L. Tołstoj and A. Czechow. These authors drew the reader’s attention to the fact that man is an inseparable part of naturę, thus he ought to treat it with respect. Since the 1920s, literaturę works known as “industrial prose” (F.Gladkow, M. Szaginian, L. Leonow, W. Katajew and others) focused on describing the Industrial Revolution, not paying much attention to the issues of ecology. The strongest reaction to scientific and technical progress was displayed in the “countryside prose”, especially in the works of W. Rasputin and W. Astafjew. In literature of the 1960s and the 1970s the lackof unity between man and nature was portrayed as severing ties between a person and the community. In the 1980s and the 1990s in the works of L. Pietruszewska, N. Kolada, W. Malagin, D. Lipskierow, S. Zalygin and others one reads about tragic visions of our planet in near future, resulting from a global natural disaster.
