O interpretacji zjawisk prozodycznych i rosyjskiej intonacji

Abstract

In the article interpretation of prosodic phenomena in East-Slavonic linguistics is presented. Intonation and prosody are two elementary notions that researchers treat differently. According to the so-called narrow definition intonation is synonymous to speech melody whereas in the wide definition it comprises speech melody, utterance stress, rhythm, tempo and pauses. The former is popular among British and American linguists. The latter, however, is applied mostly by Slavic phoneticians who often replace it with the notion of prosody or phrase prosody. In the article the system of intonational patterns (IK) by E. A. Bryzgunova and ToRI transcription by C. Ode have been compared and contrasted.
