Litwa etniczna i jej władcy na kartach „Kroniki Bychowca”

Abstract

The article focuses on the linguistic reflection of ethnic Lithuania (its rulers) as documented in the Old Belarusian chronicle “Kronika Bychowca”. The author concentrates on two aspects of this issue: 1) semantics of Old Lithuanian names of princes, which are well evidenced in the text, 2) evaluative forms used by the chronicler to describe Lithuanian rulers. The forms are analyzed in accordance with the typology proposed by J. Puzynina (transcendental, cognitive, moral, hedonistic values).
