Mikrotoponimy utworzone od dawnych jednostek miar na Białostocczyźnie

Abstract

The article discusses micro-topographic names derived from the old metrical units such as: sznur, pręt, staje, sążeń, that are found in the area of Białystok region. Selected metrical units can be classified into three different thematical groups: units of lenght and area derived from measuring instruments - sznur, pręt, lenght units related with human physical abilities to move - staje, anthropomorphic metrical units - sążeń. Meaning of the selected metrical units, derivation and linguistic appurtenance are presented. The work contains geographical location of micro-topographic names in the area and the most important phonetic and morphologic features. Phonetic sound of discussed local names depends on regional polish and east-slavonic dialects. The examples of east-słavonic influence on polish dialects and vice versa - polish elements on byelorussian dialects of Białystok region are indicated.
