Abstract

The article “The Reconstruction of the Past in Janka Sipakoŭ’s Novelette Cycle” traces the genre peculiarities of the small epic form and the particular features of its artistic and historical material. The author of the article points out the author’s experience of reconstructing mythological pre-Christian views of his predecessors, as well as the depth of his understanding of the pagan believes of the ancient Belorussians. Janka Sipakoŭ also appeals to certain historical events. For example, to the war of 1812 which brought into its tragic sphere a lot of peoples. The peculiarity of the ideas, problems as well as images and composition of the writer’s novelette once again confirm the doubtless gift of this artist of the word.
