Abstract

The present article Eduard Limonov in the eyes of Yaroslav Mogutin features two strong personalities: Limonov and Mogutin. They have a lot in common: fate of an emigrant, underground literature, natural inclination to shock readers and drastically jar their tastes, autobiographism, homoerotics, language. Regardless of very divergent opinions about Limonov as a writer, he is a unique phenomenon of the latest Russian culture. In the rebel’s eyes he exposed two worlds, so different and distant from each other in a number of ways. Thanks to his controversial insight, Limonov caused extensive traumas in the fossilized mentality of the reading public. Not only did he bite the New World unfamiliar to him, but also the Old One, known from the cradle.
