Sposoby nominacji kobiet w XVIII-wiecznej antroponimii południowej Białostocczyzny

Abstract

In the present article the models of nomination which served the purpose of naming women in 18th century in the south of Bialystok region are described. The analysis of anthroponimic material indicates that a primary way of naming women (the representatives of all social groups) in the period under research includes the following model: first name + surname. This is two element identificatory system that is in force nowadays. The above model consists of personal names ending with -cka//-ska as well as formations with husband’s or father’s surnames. The surnames were not always interpreted in terms of contemporary ones. Extended anthroponimic formations (with three and four elements) were seldom used.
