Abstract

This paper deals with syntactic constructions in which both components are adverbs, the main component being an adverb of external rtappings of animate beings’ streaks of character, whereas the subordinate component is a gradable adverb. The analysis corpus data has been undertaken as an attempt to answer the following questions: 1) Which adverbs of external rtappings of animate beings’ streaks of character can be modified by gradable adverbs in Russian and Polish? 2) Which gradable adverbs can modify adverbs of external rtappings of animate beings’ streaks of character? 3) What are the similarities and differences in the functions of the aforementioned constructions in both languages?
