Abstract

The article contains a review of methodological analysis of contemporary Belarusian literary criticism. It stresses essential importance of scientific thought to turn to the legacy of Belarusian writers of the first third of the XXth century and shows the inexhaustibility of traditional hiatorical-literary ways of research in the field of Belarusian literary criticism. Historical-functional study of literature is viewed as a very prospective way in solving a vital problem of Belarusian literary criticism - contemporary perusal and objective research of Belarusian literature of the past epochs. The article includes a thorough study of the narrative story “Silver Snuff-Box” by Zmitrok Biadula, a classic Belarusian writer, in the light of historical-functional methology.
